Download Fractal-Top
- Fractal-Top 3.5.3 - 2022 latest. With Java (Oracle or IBM's Semeru) installed, just double
click the jar file to run it. (Yes, JavaQuat is now Fractal-Top.)
- All: FTnJ3.5.3.zip
(5.3Meg includes Jars for Fractal-Top and Fractal-Top-Joiner & outdated documentation that I'm currently working on.)
- There are many fixes and additions. Major changes are (1) infinite precision, and thus unlimited zooms, in the loops
for the Mandelbrot and Mandelcube fractals and Julia sets, (2) parallel processor draw for multi-core (multi-CPU) computers, (3)
point orbit plotting and (a first attempt at) counting and finding the attractors in the orbit.
- I'm working on the documentation and hoping to have it available by the end of January 2023. Source may be available at some later date.
Older versions.
- JavaQuat 2.14 Executable jar - 2007 update, just double
click the jar file to run it.
- JavaQuat 2.04 (Compiled with Java 1.1.7)
2.03 had a horizontal one-pixel-off problem when drawing slow lines.
Known problems have been fixed.
If there's a problem send email.
Where to get Java
Note
I use Java 1.6 (from Sun and pretty old) and I have just discovered that the Semeru and OpenJDK Javas run with a SecurityManager by default. What a pain! I've tried
editing the /conf/security/java.policy file to add all permissions but I'm still unable to use the file system on my PC to read or save fractals.
I'll work on this and post the answer here when I find it but much on-line documentation is out of date, it seems. So it may be
January of 2023 before I have time to devote to this. If you know what I should do please send an email to my email address that is below.
