This trip was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me. My brother and sister in law, Mort and Donna, have a condo in Maui and visit the island often. Plans for this meeting were going on two years in advance when they applied for the use of the condo in the fall, hoping Rainer would have his fall school break, instead of in the spring and also the use of a second one on Hawaii making the trip a week on each island. Things were not looking good when Steffi fell sick and Rainer’s vacation dates didn’t match. By the time the dates were close Steffi was partly recovered and I was able to get a flight to join them at the last moment.
