Steffi and I took a short trip end of October 2005 to Greetsiel on the North sea coast just to get away for a few
days. A “Siel” is a flood gate in the dike leading to many canals so Greetsiel had a harbor and a fleet of shrimp boats although the actual sea was quite far away. It is a quaint fishing village
that has become a populat tourist town when artists settled there. It has also been used as a background for films. The mud flats of the area is a national park and wildlife reserve and is
one of its kind in the world. A great place to forget the everyday worries. We were lucky because the season ended Nov 1. when many things closed and we went home.
