![]() | The two largest white signs on the hillside show how much of Wushan will be under water when the Three Gorges Dam is part full and completely full. |

![]() | On shore, from the bus, heading to the lesser three gorges of the Daning (Da = big, ning = quiet) River. |
![]() | Wushan will be submerged when the Three Gorges Dam is filled. Residents of Wushan will move to bran new, larger apartments across the river. Our Wushan and Daning River guide, Nancy, said that her family would be moving from a 4 room house to a 7 room house. She said the younger people were happy to move to better living accomodations. But she said that the older residents, like her grandmother, were unhappy and would rather keep Wuhan as it is. |

![]() | Jim, Mary Frances, and the rest of us, ready to take a boat up the Daning river. The Longmen (Long = dragon, men = gate) Bridge is seen in the background. When the Three Gorges Dam is filled, the water will come almost up to the top of the Longmen Bridge. |

![]() | 2000 year old holes in the rock wall once held wooden beams for a walkway. There are two sets of holes but I couldn't quite hear why. I think the lower ones supported a safety net or something like that, but am not sure. |
![]() | Where the river is a too shallow for some boats to pass, there are places like this where passengers can get off and walk to another place where they can get back aboard. That allows the boat to get through, since it is sitting higher in the water without the passengers' weight. |
