Welcome to Linda's and Garr's China pictures.

Street in Beijing
|

r06-f10 |
Embassy guards marching in one of the two areas of
Beijing where foreign embassies are located.
|

r06-f11 |
Our hotel in Beijing, the Hua Du, pronounced
"Wah Doo" as opposed to "Doo Wah".
|

r06-f12 |
Another of the gates that were originally in the
walls that surrounded the Forbidden City.
|

r06-f13 |
Office building (center) and appartments (right)
in Beijing.

r06-f16 |
Beijing train station, as we left.
|

r06-f17 |
Beijing train station, as we left for Zhengzhou
(prononuced Jung Joe).
|

r06-f18 |
A railroad turntable in Beijing. (Garr likes to
photograph them.)
|

r06-f21 |
Farm fields as seen from the train,
with Beijing in the background.
|

r06-f23 |
View from the train, just outside Beijing.
|

r06-f25 |
They are planting millions of trees in China. This
appeared to be a tree farm rather than a future forest.
|

r06-f26 |
Graves among trees, seen from the train from
Beijing to Zhengzhou.
|

r06-f28 |
Greenhouses south of Beijing, as seen from the
train going to Zhengzhou.
|

r06-f30 |
A brick factory
south of Beijing.
|

r07-f01 |
Cement railroad ties, what a good idea! There's not
a lot of wood in the north and these should not split or rot. Two bolts go
through the tie on each side of each rail. The track is held down by what
appears to be a spring steel clip under the nut that is screwed down on the
bolt.
|

r07-f02 |
The courtyard and house have decorations on each
side of the main entrance. Walls often
have a sign consisting of a string of characters,
usually in blue and white. Blue is a favorite color.
|

r07-f03 |
Well outside Beijing, children stroll through a farm field.
|

r07-f05 |
A Christian church in a town between Beijing and Zhengzhou.
|

r07-f07 |
Marv, Maggie, and Linda, "Where are we now?"
|

r07-f10 |
Edda (close) and Dorothea (by window) and our box
lunches. I can't remember if these were from Colonel Sanders or if that
was another train.
|

r07-f11 |
Military tanks in a train station we passed
through on the way to Zhengzhou.
|

r07-f13 |
There are lots of coal burning power plants in
China.
|

r07-f16 |
Another Christian church.
|

r07-f17 |
A wall, fancier than most, surrounds this field.
