one-yuan-coin
We didn't see a lot of coins in use, mostly paper money. One yuan was worth about $0.125
at the time of our trip (8 yuan to the dollar).
These scans were done at 150
pixels/inch. The smaller versions on this page were reduced to 20% in each dimension.

wallet |
A wallet from southwest China. It has a zippered compartment for paper
money and it folds over and closes with velcro.

3-gorges-stone |
This is a chrysanthemum stone. They are found upstream from the
Three Gorges Dam. I bought this one in Wushan as we returned to the Victoria 2 from our trip
up the Lesser Three Gorges. I don't know if they will be available after the dam is filled.

zhacai-back |
To the left is a lunch item from our trip to Langde. I was particularly interested in the
labeling which is in some ways similar and in someways different from that in the U.S. To the right
are some pottery shards I found in the river where we stopped for lunch near Langde. The
marble-like objects are more egg shaped than spherical and, as you can see, quite pretty.
