On July 13th we went to the Neander Valley (Neanderthal) and the Neanderthal Museum. The first thing we came to was this statue. He doesn't exactly look like a Neanderthal man, but maybe a stylized Neanderthal man.

The long cenent walk here is a time line. Bronze placks mark the locations in time when Homoerectus discovered fire, and various other events of prehistory. Way, way down at the end is the time when the Neanderthal man lived. In the fast few feet are civilization and recorded history. The cave where the Neanderthal man bones had survived is marked by the red and white stakes. Nothing remains of the cave or the hillside where it once was located.

There are a couple breading programs going on at the Neanderthal Museum. One is to breed horses back to look like their ancient ancestors. Except for the whiteish one, these are some of the ancester look alikes.
