Here we are coming back into cologne, where Sharon was waiting for us. We arrived at 6:50 p.m., so she had finished work by that time. There were still a good 3.5 hours of daylight left, so we looked around town before going back to Loope.

Heading back to Sharon's car on the trolley the sunset was very nice behind the Cathedral.

Long ago the people of Köln didn't have to work. That's because at night the Heinzelmaennchen came out unseen, and did all the work for them. But there was a tailor's wife who just had to know who these little men were to satisfy her curiosity. So she placed dried peas on the steps and that night waited in hiding. When she heard the peas being crushed she came out with her lantern and saw them, and they never came again. This statue commemorates the legend.

Saturday, after an enjoyable evening Keggeling with some of Sharon's and Rainer's friends, we went to a nursery to see if we could find seeds for some of the interesting plants we'd seen. We were successful and much to our surpoise, we were allowed to bring them into the country on our return. There were some butterfly bushes at the nursery, as well as in Rainer's and Sharon's backyard. I'm not sure whre these pictures were taken, but at least one was from the nursery, I think.
