This was one end of a bridge across the Rhine, and is the location American soldiers first crossed the Rhine in World War Two. A museum dedicated to peace is housed here now.

We only went as far as the next to last stop on the trip that day. Across the river is Bad (i.e. Bath) Hönningen. We got off at Bad Breisig on the advice of a young lady who worked on the ship. She said that we'd have less time to look around in Bad Hönningen since the town is not at the waters edge like Bad Breisig is. We had traveled 55 to 60 kilometers upstream from Köln (Cologne) at this point.

Here comes our ship, returning from its 50 minute stop in Bad Hönningen, to pick us up.
