| We went to a nearby Tarahumara school, run by the government. Families are offered food in exchange for allowing their children to attend. Also the children are fed while there. Some children are from nearby, but for those who come some distance, there are beds and they live there during the week, returning home on weekends. | The children were cute and friendly. | ||

| Inside the dorm, work assignments are posted on this board. | These children looked well cared for and healthy, except for a runny nose of two. Some of the Tarahumara further out in the wilderness are not as lucky. The death rate for children under 5 or 6 is 50%. You can, as of this writing in March of 2004, cause a minute of free hospital care to be donated to the Tarahumara children by clicking on www.giveaminute.org and then on "Give a Minute" on the left of the page. | ||
