Leaving the government building with the murals. This guardian angel for the City of Chihuahua slowly rotates on its pedistal. At night a green laser light shines out over the city from the angels sword. We changed some traveler's checks into pesos and then took a quick look at this church before we had to reboard the bus.

Dinner the evening of the 17th was with Mexican families. Each family took in about 8 of us. We had the opportunity to visit with our host and hostess, Jesus and Blanka Jurado, and then enjoyed some of Blanka's home cooking. Yum! The next morning we were up about 4:00 a.m. in order to catch the train for Creel. After it was light enough we started taking pictures through the windows. We were passing through Mennonite country. About 20,000 Mennonites moved to the Chihuahuan Desert from Canada in the 1920s. They live on various campuses and grow apples by the millions. Many of the orchards have nets to cover the trees, but this one did not. Inside the train car was this map or the Chihuahua-Pacifico (Chepe) rail line from Chihuahua to the Pacific coast.
